COOK, POWER STROKEŽ DIESEL FORD SEVENTH AT NASHVILLE

LEBANON, TN (August 10, 2002) - Terry Cook drove his No. 29 Power

StrokeŽ Diesel Ford by International to a solid seventh-place finish in the

Federated Auto Parts 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Nashville

Superspeedway Saturday. The Top-10 run allowed Cook to maintain second place

in the 2002 NCTS championship standings, just 34 markers out of the top spot.

"We had a good points day by staying out of trouble," said Cook. "We

led a lap and bringing home a Top-10 finish with an ill-handling truck is a

solid effort. We thought we had a handle on it, but we fought loose to tight

handling conditions all night. We still need to do more homework on

superspeedways. We are testing at Chicago land in the next couple of weeks to

do just that."

Cook, a five-time winner on the NCTS tour this season, started ninth

and was running in the Top-10 as the leaders pitted for fuel and fresh rubber

at the 60-Lap mark of the event. Crew chief Bob Keselowski rolled the dice on

fuel mileage keeping the No. 29 Power Stroke Diesel Ford out on the track and

the move paid off to perfection as Cook collected five bonus points for

leading Lap 69. One lap later, Cook dove onto pit road for fuel, four tires

and a chassis adjustment.

Despite the changes, the red, silver and black No. 29 Ford proved to

be a handful throughout the event for the Indianapolis, IN driver.

"Nothing we seemed to throw at the truck helped," said Cook. "When

trucks closed in two to three lengths behind me, my truck just wanted to snap

sideways. It was difficult to handle all night."

Eventually, the handling problem and a blistering pace by the leaders

put Cook one lap down. In all, just five trucks managed to stay on the lead

circuit at the finish with Cook grinding out a hard-fought seventh-place

finish at the checkered flag. Cook earned $9,400 in prize money as he rolled

to his 13th Top-10 finish in 15 NCTS events this season.

"Honestly, we had a 15th-place truck and to finish seventh here

tonight was big," Cook stated. "While we struggled here, we still got a

great finish and now we're approaching a part of the schedule at tracks where

we've had great success in the past. We have a few weekends off from schedule

now to be on top of our game at Richmond when we come back in September. We

were concerned about Nashville and it's now behind us and once again we are

walking away with a Top-10 finish."

Cook and his No. 29 Power Stroke Diesel Ford will return to action in

the Virginia is for Lovers 200 at Richmond International Raceway Thursday,

September 5 at 8 p.m. The event will be telecast by ESPN on a tape delayed

basis at 10 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time and broadcast live on MRN Radio.
